Bart van Liebergen is an Associate Policy Advisor at the Institute of International Finance’ Regulatory Affairs and Innovation Departments. He leads the IIF's Regtech projects, working with global financial institutions on how technology can be deployed for more effective and efficient compliance and risk management. He has focused in particular on machine learning applications for risk monitoring and modeling, and implications for supervision.
Previously, Bart worked as a consultant to the United Nations’ Sustainable Financial System project, and as a Senior Economist in the Financial Stability Department of the Ministry of Finance in the Netherlands. Bart holds a M.A. in EU International Relations from the College of Europe in Bruges, a M.Sc. in Monetary Economics from the University of Amsterdam, and a M.Sc. in Political Science, also from the University of Amsterdam.
