Adam is Chief Control Officer of BBVA's Open Platform, which is developing application programming interface (API) banking solutions that facilitate access to payments, cards, customer information and other banking services for FinTech companies and other technology-led firms. He has first line of defense responsibility for control, risk, compliance, and governance issues.
Adam previously spent nine years at Promontory Financial Group, most recently as the Managing Director leading the FinTech practice. In this role, he led Promontory's work on financial technology issues, including digital currencies, blockchains, payments innovation, marketplace lending, alternative credit scoring and cloud computing.
Adam started his career at the Bank of England and was transferred to the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) where he led the Consumer Risk and Market Intelligence team, served as Chief of Staff to the Chairman, worked to develop the FSA’s risk-based ARROW model, and helped develop to the FSA’s policy response on hedge fund after the collapse of Long Term Capital Management.
